Lady Gaga Being Sued AGAIN!!!

8 Aug

Lady Gaga is being sued again– this time for copyright infringement. According to the National Post, Gaga has been slapped with a lawsuit claiming her hit song “Judas” is a ripoff of a 1999 song by a singer named Rebecca F.

The similarities between the two songs may not be purely coincidence since Rebecca F’s former bass player, Brian Gaynor, is now employed by a music company that wrote 17 songs on Gaga’s recent Born This Way album. Her lawyer Chris Niro told TMZ: ‘Though the songs are different styles, the composition is the same and the chorus is the same melody.

The lawsuit filed by Francescatti, names Gaga, along with Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, DJ White Shadow and sound engineer Brian Joseph Gaynor as participants in creating the single “Judas,” a song which bares “a substantial similarity” to “Juda” because Gaga allegedly “copied and incorporated substantial, original portions” of the work, though it was previously copyrighted and recorded with Gaynor.

‘The 90’s singer is seeking recognition for what she created.’
Rebecca Francescatti, who sings under the name Rebecca F, is suing for unspecified damages.

This is the second lawsuit the singer will be fighting in the space of two months. In June she was sued by U.S. consumer attorneys 1-800-Law-Firm for profiting from the sale of $3.99 ‘We Pray for Japan’ bracelets.

Singer Lady Gaga is fighting back against 1-800-LAW-FIRM’s class action lawsuit, which claims that the singer pocketed a portion of the proceeds (roughly $3 million) from sales of her “We Pray for Japan” wristbands. Gaga sold the wristbands through her Web Site to raise money for victims of Japan’s March earthquake.

“This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan,” Gaga’s reps said in a statement.

According to International Business Times:

A lawsuit has been filed against Lady Gaga and associates for misappropriation of funds collected for Japanese Tsunami victims through sales of wristbands. The suit has been filed by Michigan-based attorneys of the 1800Lawfirm, reportsDailymail.

The class action suit was filed under Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) charges by firm partner Alyson Oliver in the U.S. Federal Court, on Friday.

Lady Gaga charged $5 for her own-designed ‘Pray for Japan’ bracelet plus $4 for shipping and another $0. 60 for tax.

The lawsuit claims that Lady Gaga inflated the cost of the wrist band and pocketed the extra. They allege that she (or her associates) are refusing to disclose how much of the total cost of the band went for relief.
