NBA players reject latest offer; union files ‘disclaimer of interest’

14 Nov

The NBA Players Association announced Monday it had rejected the latest collective bargaining agreement proposal by the league and will file an antitrust suit against the league.

All 30 NBA teams were represented at the players meeting in New York.

The player’s association will file a “disclaimer of interest” with the courts and become a trade association.

Disclaimer of interest (also called a renunciation), is a term that describes an attempt by a person to renounce their legal right to benefit.

The renunciation will pave the way for the players to file an antitrust lawsuit against the league.

Monday’s events will now seriously jeopardize the  entire 2011-12 season. The league has canceled games through mid-December, and it’s likely more cancellations will be forthcoming.

NBA Star Isaiah Rider Arrested

10 Oct

On Friday NBA Star Isaiah Rider Arrested was a top story. Here is the recap: (TMZ) Former NBA Slam Dunk champion Isaiah “J.R.” Rider is a total flake who blew off his required domestic violence classes and failed to complete 90 hours of community service … this according to court docs obtained by TMZ.
Rider — who was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife last year — was busted in Arizona for violating his probation Tuesday … but in court, he had no idea what he did wrong.

According to the docs, Rider completely ignored his probation requirements — which included 100 hours of community service, (he only did 10), completion of domestic violence classes, submitting to a urinalysis test and paying fines.

Rider’s probation officer TRASHED the former NBA star in court papers, saying Rider’s “failure to participate in treatment after so many opportunities appears to reinforce his lack of intent to successfully complete probation.”

Cops also believe Rider is a flight risk — and want to keep him locked up. Rider is due back in court on Oct. 11

Arrest warrant issued for Derrick Rose’s brother :-(

13 May

Just as Derrick Rose leads the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the Michael Jordan days, his older brother, Allan Rose, is in big trouble.

A judge in Chicago just issued an arrest warrant for Allan Rose, 26, after he failed to appear in court Tuesday – as his brother and the Chicago Bulls beat the Atlanta Hawks to take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

He was supposed to be in court to face misdemeanor reckless conduct charges stemming from his arrest last month in the North Pullman neighborhood. I guess his priorities were off? Allan Rose attended his brother’s Bulls game at the United Center on Tuesday.

On April 2 at 12:49 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man with a gun at 901 E. 104th St., where they found Allan Rose standing in the street, blocking traffic and yelling profanities, according to court records. Allan Rose was arrested and charged with reckless conduct.

This wasn’t Allan Rose’s first brush with the law. In 2002, Allan Rose was charged with two counts of manufacturing and delivering cocaine near a school or park. According to court records, Rose pleaded guilty to felony drug charges and received two years of probation, which he successfully completed in May 2005.
